Agree, and I was going to suggest a great book about Stoicism applied to modern life: “A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy” by William B. It's a really great summary of stoic ideas. William Irvine, an academic philosopher in the USA (Irvine, 2009). I have found this book very, very useful. Guide to the Good Life I met Derek Sivers at TEDGlobal, and find his posts always interesting. I printed this out and hung it on my fridge. He has written a series of “book notes” – more than a review, not quite a precis of the book.
